Raindrops

Poem: Raindrops

Love is in the raindrops

love is in the air

love is when I think of you and knowing you are there ✨

Review: Raindrops

As I’m writing this, It’s June and almost mid-June at that. Yes, I’m watching closely as each day passes to the next with each flip of the diary and calendar page. Yes, I still perform the actions of a flip, the flip of a tangible page that is, and yes ‘I’m living the life’ a hybrid life! A bit of ‘the analogue’ mixed with a bit of ‘the digital’ Both can be supportive bedfellows. No, I’m not two-timing, they both have their place within this modern way of living. I’m not willing the month along at rapid speed, no, and I’m certainly not wishing summer away (It’s barely got here!) It’s 2024 and meteorological summer is supposedly here. I am monitoring the days to see if summer, as I knew it, you know, that time of the year where there was that continuous promise of heat rising because of that glowing yellow sphere in the sky. (The sun, It’s called, if memory serves?) I am in fact willing the days along towards those that resemble that of Summertime!

Ok, these are not just my thoughts, I’ve had many a conversation with different folk in recent times. It’s not just ‘the done thing what British folk do, to talk about the weather, to smile sweetly and then move on. No, it’s a necessary talking point to discuss what all are doing to combat, cope and deal with this insane stop/start/stop/start, unseasonal weather. What is going on? It’s not just me who’s not experiencing a proper summer thus far, and yes I’ve needed to leave the house with a brolly every day but I have learned of folk taking advantage of the few glimmers of sunshine we’ve been afforded this month and some have stumbled across impromptu bbq’s, kicking balls around in nearest park and having flexible swaying hammock activity.  I have even dug out my mini wellies and fed the ducks at the nearest micro pond/ puddle. It’s good to get out and to switch off. These are just a few of the things that have come to many a rescue for folk.

I’ll draw the line, almost, with using blankets and cushions outdoors especially if there’s a price tag attached. If it’s a café, provide folk with a decent enough of an indoors for goodness sake! Coffee is never that good or trendy is it?. Why should people’s chattering teeth be at the mercy of these hideous places? Don’t go there! Don’t go there on a breezy, cold, gloomy rainy day. Undoubtably the weather can leave one feeling a bit grumpy and/or downbeat. Reading, creativity and conversations are great allies during these times. I find it uplifting when reading this delightful and optimistic little poem.

Every day the skies are mainly filled with clouds and it has rained a lot this year, yes, but the poet is seeing love and feeling the love in the knowledge and in the presence of someone or something good. A great little read. Easy to commit to memory and share with others when things are a bit on the gloomy side. I can’t help but smile.
