Lunch time Launch

Poem: Lunch time Launch

Blue skies

And French fries

It’s no surprise

When I look into your eyes

I begin to reminisce

Let’s do it again, have take off and launch with a kiss.

Lunch time launch: Review

The poet has started with pleasant rhyming visuals of ‘blue skies’ and ‘French fries’ but before I get overly carried away in the ‘cuteness’ of how this poem is beginning to sound, I ask the question ‘Who says ‘French’ fries anymore?

People just say ‘fries’ right? I haven’t conducted a poll but I’m guessing that the poet is having a bit of a ‘retro’ moment here and has turned the clock back to ‘the good old day’s o’clock. Stop it poet please. Live in the here and now…

I personally prefer ‘chip shop chips’ anyway (but that’s another story for another time), The trend is now to ‘air fry’ everything from your kippers to your socks. I digress dear reader. I apologise. Back to the poem. I find that my hunch was indeed right and I was correct in thinking that the poet was reflecting. Are poet’s known for having a bit of a think? Well, I think that they must do to create their art. They don’t just all schlep around town donning a tilted beret and smell flowers all day long. No, not when there’s work to do with messages to connect, communicate and reach people’s mind’s and heart’s.

It has worked with me where I am able to visualise the poet’s exciting intention of wanting to rekindle a flame with a lover. A powerful new start with launching with a kiss.

Like very much the rhyming of words ‘reminisce’ and ‘kiss’ A lovely way to conclude an optimistic little read.
