Know your limit

Poem:Know your limit

Punching far above your weight

Biting off more than you can chew

What can be done?

And what are you to do?

Lesson learnt with a sore jaw

and accumulating a bruise or two?

Know your limit

Review:Know your limit

You’re off to nowheresville pretty fast if you start any project or task with punching above your weight.

The poet has been busy doing a spot of observing here (as poets do, so I’ve heard, they can’t help but can they?)

The person they are speaking of is taking on too much by the looks of it.

Why is this? They want to reach a goal by accomplishing a task but have not done any research into it and have not used any common flippin’ sense!

Crystal clear mistakes are taking place. When is it likely to stop, this potential pattern of stupid behaviour? NEVER is what I’d say! (if it continues like this) People are creatures of habbit. Patterns are powerful. Cancel any crystal ball order from amazon or ebay! If you want to look into the future, look at behavioural patterns from the past.

Would the person in question ever get to know their limitations?

Do people in general know when to stop and take a different and more sensible aproach to life? Simple answer to that – NO

Would they just keep going because they’re used to things being a certain way and a situation or someone and/or is pulling their puppet strings? YES!

As a result, is something likely to break, fall apart or be ruined? YES!

Have certain opportunities just passed along with ‘father time’ leading the winged chariot? YES! Time has always and will always tick along unapologetically. That is tha nature of time.

Ok, it may appear like I’m taking an abrubt and perhaps an unkind approach to the person that the poet speaks of BUT I’m seeing it as the poet bringing attention to taking a more positive approach to living life! Know your limits!

Push things unnecessarily at your peril!

Do the maths. How much time has gone by?

What have you learned?

What is in you? What patterns can be relinquished? What can be woken up from a slumber? Any new interests to explore?

How many more slices of that ‘time pie’ are you likely to have left?

No one has a crystal ball but that ‘final’ day is a certainty for all just as the first day was. You had to come here during this portion of space and time. It has been offered to you.

The punching far above your own weight and biting off more than what can be chewed are great metaphors

See what the results are and make your decisions.

Know your limit based on what you’ve experienced, look at the established patterns. If it has gone on for years, it’s not likely to change. What have you got and what are you able to do in the ‘here and now’?

A wise short read

and to the point

I’m knowing my limit

A great message

You’ve made me face that scary ‘f’ word : the ‘future’

Thank you poet. You’ve made me look at being realistic and optimistic.

“I choose not to punch above my weight but to punch the air with joy and appreciation with what is here and what’s yet to come!
