Cold Hearted Weather Forecast – Autumn is here
Poem: Cold Hearted Weather Forecast – Autumn is here
You know already rain is guaranteed
It’s darker
It’s colder
Winter is next
Get on with it
Summer happened when it wanted to
Temperatures vary but generally hover around zero degrees
like a frozen witch on a broom, who reminds me of the boss!
There’s nothing new under the sun if we were to have it
Somewhere in the world sunshine produces heat
And that’s where I will be going
Today is my last day
I have retired
Thank you for being a captivating audience
Weather happens whether you want it to or not
Get over it!
Review: Cold Hearted Weather forecast – Autumn is here
I can’t help but laugh out loud upon reading the opening line of ‘you know already rain is guaranteed.’
Indeed, it is a very cold-hearted weather forecast! It’s blunt.
I can imagine feeling ‘the chill’ all year round if this forecaster does a report for all four seasons!
What I do like is that it’s very ‘matter of fact’. Not a matter of a ‘fluffed up fairy tale fantasy with a happy ending and a happily ever after saccharine sentiment.
As I’m writing this review, it’s pouring down with rain. Oooh! Spooky eh?
Erm,
NO as this is Autumn!…It’s what happens.
Autumn!
Autumn!
Autumn!
It’s a reassuring message as not everything is guaranteed but the rain is.
It’s short with ‘giving a nod’ to the previous season and the next, it doesn’t hang around!
I can’t help but laugh some more with the additional messages of the wise words: ‘getting on with it’ and ‘getting over it!’
Referring to a witch a on broom is a hilarious and unexpected addition to a weather report! That can be said comfortably as it’s the weather forecaster’s last day.
Truthful and professional ‘til the end with thanking the audience too! A nice touch.
I’m getting a clear picture from the poet/reporter of what their intentions are upon completing this forecast. They will be leaving and they will get some guaranteed sunshine somewhere else in the world. ‘Bon voyage’, I say to you. I appreciate the honesty and the humour.
I will miss you but… I will ‘Get over it!”
